📄️ Data modeling
Field types tell Bobuild what a value is. Data modeling decides how objects relate and which patterns stay maintainable as the app grows. This guide complements Field types, Global objects, and Auto fields.
📄️ Field types
Each object in your database has a set of fields. The field type defines what kind of data it can store and how it appears in forms, grids, and detail views. Choosing the right type once saves validation work later and keeps imports, APIs, and tasks consistent.
📄️ Global objects
Most objects hold many records. A global object (also called a singleton) holds exactly one shared record for the whole app — ideal for site-wide configuration, a single organisation profile, or settings that every page should read.
📄️ Auto fields
Auto fields are special fields that are automatically filled according to a formula. You can use them to calculate values automatically based on other fields. This is one of the most powerful features of Bobuild.
📄️ Placeholders & functions
Placeholders let you inject the value of a field inside an e-mail message, the computed value of an auto field, or a Rich Text widget.
